In order to promote the development of mathematics and inspire students to challenge themselves to higher and stronger goals, on October 25th, Anqing Foreign Language School invited outstanding teacher Lv Pengfei from Anqing No.1 Middle School, who is also Grade Department Director and head coach of senior high school mathematics competition, to carry out a unique lecture for all the teachers with the mathematics group and student representatives from Grade 9 with the title of ‘If a man is ambitious, he can reach the point of his ambition, no matter how far away.’ Also in attendance were President Madam Huang Wenli, Principal Assistant Hu Qilin, Director Zhang Li of the Teaching Department, Director Wang Shengxiang of the Moral Education Department and Director Sun Yijun of the Personnel Department.
To begin with, teacher Lv Pengfei affirmed the attainment of students of Anqing Foreign Language School. He initially put forward a question, which is the famous ‘Qian Xuesen's question’. Lv Pengfei proposed that if you want to be a student with good grades, you must have a lofty ideal in life.
On the other hand, concerning the characters around the students, namely the senior students from Anqing Foreign Language School who now study in Anqing No. 1 Middle School, Lv Pengfei talked about how to use scientific learning methods to study efficiently as well as how to become ‘straight A students’ and ‘learning gods’. Additionally, Lv Pengfei emphasized the significance of students' independent learning, and introduced some learning methods of independent learning to students, which enlightened the students in the meantime. Finally, Lv Pengfei put forward some goals for students, hoping that everyone could realize their ideals and answer ‘Qian Xuesen's question’ with actions.
In conclusion, Lv Pengfei’s vivid case study and professional method guidance benefit both students and teachers. Moreover, teacher Chen Peifeng from the math group was quoted as saying, ‘we should hold more lectures like this with rich contents, because both students and teachers have broadened their horizons and refreshed their mind.’ More noticeably, the students were very excited and expressed that they would challenge themselves to higher and stronger goals!
